Denny Thomas
a
newspaper owner and publisher, Denny
started out at a small paper and ended up in corporate management with the
same company
20 years later. When the whole company was sold, he struck
out on his own. Now he owns three weeklies in the Hill Country. Like a lot
of people in the newspaper business, he played. Denny started in high school
playing trumpet with a group called Marijuana Brass. His college roommate
taught him some guitar chords which led to a 13-year stint with a
bluegrass band in San Marcos. Somewhere
along the way, he started writing songs. Halfhearted attempts to record
led to him putting together this Hill Country CD. Denny
wrote songs 1, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 14. The last cut on the album, 'Surrender',
remains very special to him because it's song of hope he wrote while at La
Hacienda in Hunt, Texas. |
