Charley Ramsay III
in
most folks the "III" would look like a blue blood or an unbridled egotist
trying to add distinction where it definitely don't belong. In Charley's
case, it's well-deserved and much cherished. His father is a Texas State
District Judge in San Marcos. His grandfather was mayor of San Marcos and
a commissioner and
county judge in Hays County. His grandmother was one of the founders of
the local League of Women Voters, a staunch Democrat, successful business
woman and a great lady in the Texas tradition. Charley grew up in San
Marcos and got a band together in high school with some of his buddies.
The band was called Hey Zeus and garnered
a small, loyal following in Austin and surrounding areas. Charley was the artistic force driving the group -
writing songs, doing the vocals,
playing guitar and a mean blues harp. He lives in Austin now with a wife,
more kids than he can count with another on the way. His songs have a Dylanesque quality and his singing style brings The Boss to mind. Charley
wrote cut 11 while working at a canning factory during the salmon run in
Alaska. He works as a senior software engineer for a firm in Austin. |
